Physical education

At Edward Francis, we aim to deliver high-quality Physical Education which ensures that every child develops physical literacy, confidence, and a lifelong passion for sport and healthy living.

Utilising the GetSet4PE scheme across the whole school, our PE curriculum provides a clear, progressive framework designed to build key movement skills, teamwork, and resilience from Reception through to Year 6. Through active, engaging, and age-appropriate learning, we equip pupils with the physical competence, sporting values, and knowledge they need to lead healthy lifestyles and thrive both on and off the field.

To enrich this experience beyond the classroom, we offer a wide range of extra-curricular opportunities. Children can develop their skills and passions through diverse sports clubs, as well as represent the school in competitive teams across various sports, building sportsmanship, pride, and community spirit.

Curriculum Map

The curriculum map below shows the different PE units and sports children learn about in each year. Units may be taught in a different term than suggested below but the units are all covered. We are very proud to be able to offer all of our children swimming lessons every year.
